Randall Goodman, MD, FACS

Ophthalmologist

Dr. Goodman is a board-credited ophthalmologist in private practice in San Luis Obispo, Santa Maria, and Lompoc, California. He specializes in refractive surgery, including laser vision correction, LASIK, cataract, and lens implant surgery.

As a comprehensive ophthalmologist, he also performs eyelid surgery, cornea, glaucoma surgeries. Dr. Goodman lives in SLO County and has practiced on the Central Coast since 2005. Prior to that, he spent nine years as an Air Force officer. He served as the Chief of
Ophthalmology at the United States Air Force and Veteran’s hospital in Las Vegas for three years after completing his ophthalmology residency at Wilford Hall Air Force Medical Center and Brooke Army Medical Center in Texas. Before becoming an eye surgeon, he served two years as an Air Force flight surgeon after receiving his MD degree from Loma Linda University School of Medicine, Loma Linda, California.

Dr. Goodman is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and has authored two ophthalmology textbooks and numerous journal articles, book chapters, and scientific abstracts, and serves as an editorial reviewer for two medical publishers. He has won many accolades for his writing, teaching and research, and was awarded the prestigious Air Force Aerial Achievement Medal and the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. Dr. Goodman also received the very prestigious 2021 SEE International Humanitarian Award for his service and dedication to our local communities. Active in his church, Dr. Goodman has also participated in many surgical mission trips to Fiji, Mexico, Honduras, and Nicaragua. He serves on the Board of Directors for Surgical Eye Expeditions International in Santa Barbara. Dr. Goodman and his wife, a local family practice physician, enjoy traveling, hiking, and spending time together with their daughter and son.
